All older models of electronic cigarettes (before cartomizers) used an atomizer and slide on cartridges. The atomiser is a fairly delicate device and often breaks or cakes up with carbon.
If you still have one of these models (not only ECS - most other types fit) or if you prefer dripping (Putting refill liquid directly onto the atomiser for a greater throat hit, then you will probably need spare atomisers.
Note: These do not fit the new ECS 2010, which has smaller battery threads.
